School board approves first slate of boundary changes

The Duval County School Board elected to implement a series of five programmatic and boundary changes, beginning this coming fall, in time for the 2016-17 school year. The schools affected are Ed White High; Wolfson High; Hyde Grove and Hyde Park Elementaries; Oak Hill Elementary and Ft. Caroline Middle School.

One such bill, which passed through the Choice and Innovation Subcommittee earlier this week, seeks to extend school choice options for parents across district lines.

Semi-finalists named for 2016 Florida Blue Duval County Teacher of the Year

Fourteen outstanding public school teachers today were named semi-finalists for the 2016 Florida Blue Duval County Teacher of the Year.

The semi-finalists were selected from the Teachers of the Year nominated by every public school in Duval County. From the semi-finalists, five finalists will be selected and announced in February and the winner announced at the EDDY Awards on March 12.
