About EDTalks

EDTalks is a biennial speaker series event that brings education's greatest thought leaders to Duval County to share a thought-provoking message about the future of education with hundreds of educators and community leaders. The proceeds from this biennial event help ensure that every student walks into school with the same opportunity to succeed. Your support helps close the opportunity gap for low-income students and students of color by piloting and helping scale best practices in public schools.

WATCH: EDTalks 2021

This year, JPEF was joined by keynote speaker Eddie S. Glaude Jr., a Princeton professor and a bestselling author.

Dr. Glaude brought an outsider’s view and a fresh take to conversations on diversity, equity and inclusion. He challenged our community to go beyond just stating their DEI vision to authentically living its values.

Dr. Glaude helped Jacksonville understand value gap (the belief that some people matter more than others) and how it is counterintuitive to an innovative culture that attracts, develops, and retains top talent. He urged our community to set bold goals and develop innovative approaches to truly leverage and maximize talent, and he challenged our thinking about the paradox of education, which both socializes our young people into society and tries to develop critical thinking skills for the leaders of the future.

At EDTalks 2021, JPEF and our partners launched 1,000 by 2025 Initiative, JPEF's Initiative to build a diverse teacher pipeline in Duval County. This event was made possible by the generous support of our sponsors.
