Duval schools honored for exemplary community involvement

We need a city where everyone can be a responsible citizen and contribute to Jacksonville. Ensuring that children are given their best chance to grow, thrive and fulfill their roles as citizens should be our top priority. That’s why it’s important to recognize the people working in and around our public schools, who are committed each and every day to incorporating family and community members into the school environment to enhance student learning. Through the Florida Department of Education’s Five Star School Award, twenty-four schools in Duval County earned recognition for the 2016-2017 school year.

Last week, the Jacksonville Public Education Fund (JPEF) hosted the first EDDY Awards event of the year, Orientation, which aims to celebrate and elevate Duval County’s 176 school-level Teachers of the Year. We asked these incredible teachers to share some of their thoughts on what makes a high-quality teacher:
