We gave the community a chance to read the projects of the 20 winners from the Fall 2016 PowerUP Jax cycle, and vote for the one they found most innovative and impactful in a two week Lightning Round. The contest has closed, and a winner has been selected.

Twenty teachers were selected to receive grants from the Community First Cares Foundation to fund innovative projects in their classrooms, and now they each have the chance to win an extra $150 to put toward their project – but they need YOUR help!

The Jax Shines Coalition for Afterschool and Summer Learning continues to gain momentum and national recognition. The Jax Shines report was featured on the National Summer Learning Association (NSLA), just months after White House officials announced they would be partnering with NSLA and other organizations to launch the Summer Opportunity Project.

Each year, the Jacksonville Public Education Fund team conducts a day of service to give back to the community in a different way. This year, we volunteered with Dignity U Wear, an organization interested in removing a barrier to education by providing new clothing to school children. We believe that all students can achieve at high levels when provided with, not just high-quality instruction, but also high-quality community support.
